Fields of Gold
40x60
oil on canvas
$3750

The 2012 Gaviota mustard bloom lasted for months. I want to get up there again and take full advantage of the prolonged springtime gold rush but this horrific wind has me concerned. After a very dry winter and these extreme winds I have a feeling the fields of gold aren't going to last as long this year. If you haven't had a chance to see it yet take a drive up the coast to the Gaviota Pier and back. You wont be disappointed!

This popular path to the beach was quite warm and vibrant on both of the days it took to get it right. Although the second day went from hot and sunny to cold, breezy and foggy half way through the day. I had laid enough in color-wise to finish it in the pea soup fog.

The Queen In All Her Glory
18x36
oil on canvas
$1300

She honestly does look this good sometimes, although when she does there are usually about two or three hundred people gathered on the beach and in the lineup to enjoy her offerings. I got a special wave out there yesterday, one in a decade is what I was calling it. Quite a point she is, The Queen of The Coast!

Moonlight Over the Salt Marsh
16x20
oil on canvas
NFS

This one is similar to the painting below in that there wasn't really a moon positioned like this in my composition. In the piece below the full moon rose near the scene I was painting that day so it seemed so justifiable to put it in. In this painting there was no moon at all, I just thought it might look nice so I threw it in. That is one of the best things any landscape painter should know......there are no rules....you can do whatever you like!
