The Hills of Marin
oil on canvas
14x16 inches

Going up to West Marin is an annual affair now. This coming spring will be my third year in the MALT show. One of the directors of the show mentioned that the artists are always putting in cows and sheep in their paintings but the native wildlife don't get the attention they deserve. I have a bigger more panoramic painting I did of this same scene that needs something. I'll post the bigger one in a few months with a coyote and a red tailed hawk and a deer or three.

Triple Perfect
oil on canvas
12x16

I like this little painting a bit more than I should. It just evokes memories of a recent perfect day up in Oregon. Many times I have surfed and painted in the same day, and quite a few times caught fish and painted on the same day but never had I surfed, painted, AND caught a fish (a salmon even) all in one day. I had salmon for diner that night with sea salt on my ears and a glistening new wet oil painting to enjoy.

Hammonds Meadow
oil on canvas
36x60

The sky was quite subtle when I started this painting. The clouds continued to explode upwards until gradually the entire sky was completely gray. I did this one for some good friends up in the bay area. Tomorrow morning at around 5am I will head north stopping in Yosemite to paint for a couple of days before I deliver it to its new home. I haven't been to Yosemite in a quarter of a century. Its great up there,  as good as anywhere on earth.

The Carpinteria Bluffs
oil on board
8x20inches

This was the clearing after a late spring rain. My brother and I were down there getting blown around by the cold wind. I liked the contrast of the Pampas Grass with the Eucalyptus grove in the back followed by afternoon mountain shadows and the sky of course. Perfect for the vertical format.
